Indian 2 was initially planned as a single part and Lyca Productions was the solo producer for this project. However, overshooting of the budget and subsequent legal issues forced Lyca to put the movie on hold with Shankar moving on to Game Changer. However, Vikram’s blockbuster success and entry of Udaynidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies breathed new life into Indian 2 and returned it to sets again.
As the movie progressed, the budget crossed more than 500 Cr, and like all Shankar films it had a lengthy runtime. Shankar continuously stated that the film was divided into two parts due to the content only and not on any other factors. But after watching the film it is clear that budget forced the team to go for Indian 3.
Shankar could have easily made the film into a single part as there were many unnecessary scenes but for more than Rs 500 Cr recovery a single part is a risky move. Hence the makers went for two parts. Shankar should learn from these things plan things and deliver the films under the planned budget. The same budget issues happened for 2 Point 0, Indian 2, and Game Changer also
