Vijay Antony scored a good hit earlier this year with Maargan, and he has come up with a political thriller, Bhadrakaali (Shakthi Thirumagan in Tamil). The makers also released sneak-peak of the film. Let us find out what special has this film in store for us in our review.

Story:

Kittu, played by Vijay Antony, works as a mediator in the Secretariat, managing everything from small favors to major legal issues involving top officials and politicians. His life takes a turn when he crosses paths with Abhyankar Shankar (Sunil Kriplani), a political strategist aiming for the presidency. Soon, a shocking ₹6,236 crore scam emerges with Kittu at its center, and the story revolves around uncovering his real intentions.

Performances:

Vijay Antony delivers a convincing performance in the lead role. Sunil Kriplani and Cell Murugan leave a mark, while Trupthi Ravindra still manages to draw attention despite her underwritten character. Vaagai Chandrasekar, Kiran, Rini Bot, Riya Jithu, Master Keshav, and others are adequate in their parts.

Director Arun Prabhu, known for Aruvi, takes charge of Bhadrakaali (Shakthi Thirumagan). From the beginning, the film does well in establishing Kittu’s world, and the moments that showcase his influence are engaging.

The interval block, which brings Kittu face-to-face with a massive financial scam, feels rushed and could have carried more weight. The second half starts on a strong note with the backstory of Kittu’s grandfather explaining the intricacies of politics, but the grip on the narrative weakens as the film moves forward.

The special officer Ram Pandey’s character lacks strength, and the casting doesn’t help. The battle of wits between Kittu, Abhyankar, and the officials never lands as effectively as it should.

The climax is predictable and ends on a flat note, adding nothing new

Positives:

  • Main Plot
  • Few Intriguing Moments In The First Half
  • Thought Provoking Dialogues Here And There

Negatives:

  • Weak Villain Character
  • Inconsistent Second Half
  • Predictable/Weak Moments

Bhadrakaali Movie Review and Verdict:

Overall, Bhadrakaali blends politics and revenge with a few interesting moments. Vijay Antony’s performance and the background score stand out, but the weak second half, preachy scenes, and weak execution of crucial scenes reduce it to an ordinary experience.
