Excluding Baahubali: The Epic, no re-release has managed to reach double-digit gross so far, making it the best and most special film among the re-releases. The film truly lived up to the hype.
Many films are recording huge openings upon re-release, but they are failing to sustain that momentum after the first day. Because of this sharp drop, most films are falling short of the double-digit mark. Several movies have opened with over ₹5 Cr gross but eventually end up in the ₹8–9 Cr range without crossing ₹10 Cr.
Strong Starts, Weak Holds
Films like Murari and Khaleja fall into this category, both showing impressive day-one numbers before experiencing significant drops. The latest example is Darling, which has collected around ₹8 Cr gross so far and is expected to close in the ₹8–9 Cr range.
Baahubali: The Epic stands apart as the sole exception, sustaining strong footfalls across multiple days and achieving the coveted double-digit gross. It remains to be seen which re-release will finally break this trend and match Baahubali: The Epic‘s milestone.
Why These Numbers Matter
That said, even without reaching ₹10 Cr, these re-release numbers are still significant. Grossing over ₹5 Cr from a re-release itself is a big achievement. It is providing solid relief to exhibitors and yielding strong profits for buyers.
