Avatar: The Way of Water has collected $435M at the global box office, whereas Avatar: The Fire and Ash’s 1st weekend collections are around $345M, which is 80% of the 2nd part, hinting at the underwhelming response for the 3rd part.
$345M is a huge weekend for any other film, but for the standards that the Avatar franchise has set, these numbers are just decent. Both Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water have collected more than $2 billion in their full run, and it remains to be seen whether Avatar 3 can achieve that range.
In India, the film has collected in the range of 65 Cr net in the opening weekend, whereas Avatar: The Way of Water collected in the 130 Cr range in the opening weekend. Overall, the collections of Avatar’s third part are just 50% of the second part.
