Audience are disappointed with Kantara OTT streaming

The wait is over. After so many long discussions, the super hit movie Kantara has been streaming now. It is known that Amazon Prime has acquired the streaming rights of Kantara and the movie was ready to be available for streaming on November first week itself, but it had to be postponed because of the exceptional running in the theaters.

As said above, the audience were eagerly waiting for the OTT release of Kantara, but they are disappointed after watching it. They have a valid reason to be so.

We all know that the most famous song and best point of the film is Varaha Roopam song in the climax of Kantara, after an enthralling action episode at the end of the film, Varaha Roopam song gives a satisfactory divine feeling for the audience.

But in OTT, the team has removed this song and replaced with another song in. Audience are completely disappointed with this change. They are feeling that the impact was completely diluted.

In the past, Thaikkudam Bridge came up with the allegations that the orchestral arrangement of the song ‘Varaha roopam…’ has been plagiarized from the song ‘Navarasam’ violating the copyrights rules. Though the music director of ‘Kantara’ repudiated this and informed that the team had only drawn inspiration from ‘Navarasam’, Thaikkudam Bridge renounced the claims.

Kozhikode principal district sessions court intervened in the allegations of copyrights infringement raised by the music band Thaikkudam Bridge against the latest Kannada hit ‘Kantara’. The court ordered that the song ‘Varaha roopam…’ in the movie ‘Kantara’ could not be used without obtaining the consent of the complainant. The court banned the director of Kantara, producer, music director, online platforms such as Amazon, YouTube, Spotify, JioSaavn and Wynk from using the song.

Kantara was a blockbuster in theaters. Worldwide, it has grossed 400 crore rupees. On the other hand, at the time when this movie is running successfully in theaters, many people felt that there is no possibility of bringing this movie to Prime much early. That’s why Amazon also waited for 3 weeks from the supposed OTT release date.

Some of the audience were in doubt whether the film will be streamed directly or on rent basis. But Kantara was available straight away for all the subscribers without any restrictions. It is known that less than four years ago, Amazon started the method of collecting a certain amount of rent instead of directly streaming a hit movie.

Kantara became the highest grossing film in Karnataka. It also crossed some records created by KGF-2. After that, Allu Aravind released this movie in Telugu. Here it has collected a gross of 60 crore rupees and surprised everyone.
