Anurag Kashyap is one of the most interesting directors in Bollywood with several cult films in his filmography. Over the past few years, the maverick director has been seen in several Tamil films as an antagonist such as Imaikka Nodigal, Maharaja, and a brief appearance in Leo.
The Bollywood director in a recent media interaction made some serious comments on the functioning of the Bollywood industry. The director accused the Bollywood heroes of trying to become stars and not better actors. He said that everything in Bollywood is about marketing and nobody wants to become a better actor. The entitlement of these actors has created a tough situation for many to work in the industry.
Shockingly, Anurag Kashyap added that he is “disappointed and disgusted” with his industry and will be shifting his base to southern India to do some stimulating work.
These statements from a director of his caliber have raised serious questions over the functioning of Bollywood which is already facing a creative block. Their heavy reliance on remakes or south directors such as Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Atlee and Murugadoss have raised quite a few questions on the ability of Bollywood to churn out original movies.
