Ram Pothineni and Mahesh Babu P’s Andhra King Taluka did not perform well at the box office despite receiving unanimously positive word of mouth and reviews, and there were strong expectations that the film would get a much better response after its OTT release.
But the initial streaming response has been only decent and not as big as expected. The movie started streaming on Netflix on 25 December. By 28 December, it had recorded 1.3 million views. The film is currently trending at the top in India and is ranked as the 6th most-watched non-English movie globally on Netflix for the week from 22 December to 28 December.
Andhra King Taluka: Underperformance in OTT as well
But 1.3 million views in the first four days is not considered a very strong start, and Andhra King Taluka’s OTT response can be said to be decent but not great. It remains to be seen whether the film can gain much higher viewership in its second week.
Also, the movie has entered the Top 10 list mainly in India. Usually, films that perform very well on OTT platforms appear in the Top 10 list across multiple countries within the first two weeks of streaming.
