Akka Netflix Response: No.1 in India, but Missing From the Global Top 10

Akka has had a mixed start on Netflix. The Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte series is trending at No.1 in India, but it failed to make it into Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English shows in its first week.

Strong in India

Akka has done well at home. The series is the No.1 show in India this week, and it has also topped the charts in two other countries.

Overall, it is in the Top 10 in 14 countries.

Akka on Netflix: First Week

  • No.1 show: India and 2 other countries
  • Top 10: 14 countries
  • Global Top 10 (Non-English Shows): Not listed

Missing From the Global List

The weak spot is the global chart. Akka didn’t make Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English shows. The No.10 show on that list, The Gift of Deceit: Season 1, had 2.3 million views, which means Akka had fewer than that.

For a big Netflix original backed by YRF Entertainment, with two well-known leads, that’s a slightly low result. Shows like Lupin and several Spanish-language limited series dominated the global list this week.

About Akka

Akka is a 1980s gangster drama produced by YRF Entertainment. It stars Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, and it premiered on Netflix on October 30.

The series follows a kingdom ruled by women, where matriarch Bhavani faces her biggest threat in Rudra, a ruthless rebel eyeing her land and legacy.

Can It Pick Up?

Akka’s first week only covered a few days after its October 30 premiere. With strong numbers in India, the series could still climb the global charts in its second week if word of mouth spreads.
