Balakrishna’s Dada Likely to Miss Its Christmas Release

Balakrishna and Gopichand Malineni's Dada not releasing on December 24th.

Balakrishna’s Dada may not arrive on its announced date. The film is officially set for a Christmas release on December 24, but there’s strong buzz in industry circles that it is likely to be postponed.

Shoot Running Into December

The main reason is the shooting schedule. As per the current plan, the shoot itself is expected to wrap up only in December.

That leaves almost no time for post-production. Editing, background score and other final work usually take weeks, especially for a big mass film. Finishing all of that between the end of the shoot and a December 24 release looks very difficult.

The Knee Surgery Delay

The shoot had already slowed down earlier this year. Balakrishna took a break to recover from knee surgery, and he resumed shooting in Mysuru only in October. That pushed the schedule back.

Early Summer Now the Target?

Because of the delays, Dada is now said to be targeting an early summer release instead. The buzz has only grown stronger as December gets closer.

Makers Still Going Ahead

The makers, however, haven’t announced any change yet. They are still going ahead with plans for promotions, and the film’s first single is set to release for Diwali.

That has left fans unsure. The promotions suggest the team is sticking to the plan, but the shooting timeline tells a different story.

Christmas Release Picture

If Dada moves, the Christmas race will get lighter. Nagarjuna’s landmark 100th film, King 100, is set for December 24, and a Kiran Abbavaram film is also targeting the Christmas window.

About Dada

Dada, earlier known as NBK111, is directed by Gopichand Malineni, who earlier gave Balakrishna the blockbuster Veera Simha Reddy. The film’s first look introduced Balakrishna as the “King of Chaos” and created big buzz among fans.

An official update on the release date is now awaited.
