Akhanda 2 was released in theaters amid massive expectations on 12th December, and though it failed to attract a large number of audiences at the box office, it is registering strong viewership on Netflix. In theaters, it collected just over 110 Cr gross.
The film’s non-theatrical rights were acquired by Netflix for a record price for all languages, and it started streaming on Netflix from 9th January. From 9th January to 11th January, Akhanda 2 received superb viewership, as it clocked 2 million views and also trended in the top 10 in 7 countries (India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, UAE, Mauritius, Nigeria).
It is listed as the 4th non -English movie with the most views on Netflix for last week (5th January – 11th January) with just 3 days of arrival. In India, it is listed in 3rd place. The film needs to see much bigger views this week to help with Balakrishna’s next film’s digital deals.
