Till December 4th morning, the fans, trade, and other audiences were waiting for the ticket bookings of Akhanda 2 movie’s premieres to open, but in the evening, the proceedings took a rapid/shocking turn, and the movie has now been postponed. The makers’ going for huge ticket rates for premieres hugely backfired for Akhanda 2.
The main reason for the film, Akhanda sequel’s financial hurdles, is that distributors did not pay the committed amounts. The real reason behind their half payment is, they believed that because the film is a sequel, it would release with massive craze.
However, somehow the craze around Akhand Part 2 did not rise organically because the promotional content was not properly planned. As a result, there emerged a huge delay in advance bookings in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for ticket hikes and a flat rate for premieres.
In Andhra Pradesh, the bookings opened after the GO, but the ticket sales did not happen as expected. The big ticket rate of Rs 600 for Akhanda 2 Premieres heavily backfired, seeing very low ticket sales, and the distributors did not pay the committed amounts before.
Had Akhanda 2 been released with regular prices or reasonable hikes in Andhra and Telangana, no hike would have been needed for that business, and the bookings could have opened last Sunday itself; then the situation could have been better.
The 600-premieres ticket price impacted the premieres and day 1 bookings, resulting in the movie being postponed. There are reports that the movie will arrive in theaters soon, but it needs to be seen once the team announces a new date. But definitely, the team needs to learn a lesson and should be careful about pricing.
