Akhanda 2 premiere shows were supposed to happen now as planned. In the morning, there was an issue with the Telangana GOs regarding premiere shows. Once the Telangana GO was released, everyone expected the bookings to open. But then the real problem came out of industry circles, the movie is facing very big financial hurdles.
The financial amounts involved are not small. For Akhanda 2, the makers reportedly spent a massive budget, taking money from multiple financiers, but the clearances have not happened, which led to all these issues.
Several big names from the industry tried to resolve the matter, but the amount was so large that they were forced to step back. On the makers’ side, distributors did not pay the committed amounts required to clear the finances. Some distributors even paid only half of their agreed-upon amounts and are not ready to pay the full balance.
Because of this, the premieres were officially cancelled. The team initially stated that overseas premieres would still happen and that India shows would begin tomorrow. But now the news is that overseas shows are also getting cancelled one by one.
The film now has high chances of postponement unless a miracle happens. We need to see what date the team chooses if the finances are not cleared today, and how the situation is finally resolved.
