Akhanda 2 is gearing up for a grand theatrical release tomorrow with premieres tonight. Because of the delay, the film’s pre-release business has gone through some changes, and the breakeven numbers for the distributors of Akhanda 2 are different now.
Interestingly, the postponement has generated more buzz for the film, and it’s already showing strong advance bookings with much better momentum than last week. However, due to the delay, some distributors who still owed payments renegotiated and only paid a portion of their outstanding balance.
There is also talk that overseas and the rest of India’s numbers have also been revised because of the date shuffle.
Earlier, the breakeven target for Akhanda 2 distributors in the Telugu version was ₹125 Cr, but now it has been changed to around ₹110 Cr. So, the film needs to collect more than ₹180 Cr gross to achieve box office success, and if it reaches ₹200 Cr gross, it will be declared a super hit.
For the producers, the film needs to perform even better than expected, as they anticipate overflows that will help them resolve certain financial issues. With the growing buzz, a positive word-of-mouth opening tonight will definitely lead to exceptional box office numbers.
