Samantha’s last film, Shaakuntalam was a big disaster at the box office. Made on a massive budget, the movie was based on the internationally acclaimed Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play ‘Abhijnana Shaakuntalam’ and was directed by Guna Sekhar. presented by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations together with Gunaa Team works and produced by Neelima Guna.
Nandini Reddy’s Anni Manchi Sakunamule was also a big failure. Though the film’s posters, songs, teaser, and trailer promised a clean family entertainer, Nandini was unable to score a hit despite having a talented star cast and a good production house. Only a few sections of the audience liked the movie, but it was not sufficient to make it a hit at the box office.
Apart from Santosh Shobhan and Malavika Nair as the lead pair, Anni Manchi Sakunamule stars Rajendra Prasad, Naresh, Gauthami, Rao Ramesh, Vasuki and Vennela Kishore in the other important roles. Mickey J Mayor composed music for the movie.
