Veteran actress Raasi, who ruled Tollywood as a leading heroine during the 90s, has now made strong comments against actress and anchor Anasuya. It is well known that the recent controversy triggered by actor Shivaji’s remarks at the Dhandoraa pre-release event shook the Telugu film industry. That controversy has now taken a new turn with Raasi’s unexpected response.

Raasi Gives an Unexpected Twist to Shivaji’s Controversy

Shivaji had used certain words while talking about the clothes worn by heroines, which led to a major backlash. Celebrities like Anasuya, Chinmayi, and others strongly criticized him, and Anasuya also made several posts on social media. Amid this ongoing issue, Raasi released a video on her YouTube channel and shared her views on the controversy and made some comments about Anasuya as well.

Raasi said, “I will not say that what Shivaji garu spoke was 100 percent wrong. However, the way he used some words was not correct. That said, he himself felt bad about it and even apologized. I know him personally. Leaving that aside, I want to talk about an incident that happened to me four years ago.”

Raasi Recalls Body-Shaming Remarks

Raasi recalled a comedy skit from the past, which was anchored by Anasuya. Without directly naming her at first, Raasi spoke about how she felt hurt by the comments made during that show. The skit featured Hyper Aadi along with the anchor. In the skit, Hyper Aadi makes a remark referring to “Raasi Gari Phalalu,” and immediately the anchor asks if he is talking about “Raasi Gari Phalalu.” Raasi questioned how a woman could speak in such a manner about another woman.

She then recalled another incident related to a popular comedy show that many viewers regularly watch. Raasi said she was invited to the show to perform a comedy skit based on her classic film Preyasi Raave. She refused, saying that the film was a classic and she did not want it to be mocked. She clearly told them that she was willing to come as a judge or a guest, but not to participate in a comedy skit making fun of that film.

Raasi added that the same anchor who is now speaking strongly against Shivaji in the current controversy was involved in those earlier incidents. “I am not bothered if one talks about ‘Raasi Phalalu,’ but when they say ‘Raasi Gari Phalalu,’ they are clearly referring to me,” she said. She also mentioned that when such comments were made, even the judge present at the time, Roja, laughed. Raasi said that if she had been in that position, she would not have laughed and would have stopped the skit immediately.

Concluding her statement, Raasi strongly said that no one has the right to body-shame anyone, not even parents. She revealed that she had seriously considered taking legal action over the issue, but dropped the idea after her mother advised her not to proceed.
