Aamir Khan surprised everyone by opting for a pay-per-view release on YouTube for Sitaare Zameen Par. It shocked public to know that Aamir Khan rejected a 125 Cr Offer from an OTT Platform.
The news is that the OTT giant, Prime video offered Sitaare Zameen par a 125 Cr for digital rights.
The actor aimed to start a new streaming platform, leading Aamir Khan to turn down a 125 Cr offer and release his film on YouTube.
From August 1, Sitaare Zameen Par will stream on YouTube Movies at a budget-friendly rate, not on other services. It costs Rs 100 in India and will launch in 38 other countries, including the US, UK, and Australia, with local pricing.
Aamir stated at a Mumbai press conference on Tuesday that he wanted to make the film affordable and accessible to many.
Aamir shared, “Think about it. A family of four can catch the movie for just Rs 100, which breaks down to Rs 25 each. You can indeed invite your neighbors. As a kid, I often watched films with the folks next door. Watching it with eight friends makes it much cheaper. You can show it to the entire village, 100 people for Rs 100. That’s just Rs 1 per person.”
He added, “It’s up to you how you want to use it. But our effort is to reach every corner of India and ensure everyone benefits from it. This is a big step for us”.
