In a turn of surprising events, Karthi’s film, Vaa Vaathiyaar’s rights, have been put up for auction by the court. The film has already faced several delays and hurdles, and it faces a new issue with this.

The Madras High Court has directed a public auction of the movie Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi, to recover ₹21 crore in alleged unpaid dues owed by the film’s producer to the financier. The release date now depends on the outcome of the auction and the settlement of the dues.

Vaa Vaathiyar was originally scheduled to be released on December 12, 2025. However, it could not be released because the Official Assignee of the High Court filed an execution petition, requesting that K.E. Gnanavel Raja of the production house settle dues amounting to ₹21.78 crore.
