The legendary actor-star Mohanlal and his son, Pranav Mohanlal, have achieved a rare record by hitting a hat-trick of 50 Cr grossers in the Malayalam film industry, with Pranav also registering as a proper lead hero in Malayalam films.
Mollywood is a difficult box office market. Normally, in other industries, each star has certain big numbers for their films, irrespective of the result. But the Malayalam industry does not have this tradition. Sometimes, even stars fail to achieve minimum numbers like 10 Cr or 20 Cr, and at the same time, they also deliver the industry’s biggest grossers.
This explains why no one in Mollywood had achieved a hat-trick of 50 Cr grossers before this year; however, the father and son duo, Mohanlal and Pranav Mohanlal, have now accomplished this feat.
Mohanlal is the first hero to deliver a hat-trick of 50 Cr grossers in Mollywood with Empuraan, Thudarum, and Hridaya Pooravam this year.
Lal’s son, Pranav Mohanlal, matched his father’s record with Hridayam, Varshangalkku Shesham, and Dies Irae. Dies Irae was released last weekend and joined the 50 Cr club. The film also has high chances to enter the 100 Cr club.
