Luficer starring Mohanlal was a blockbuster in Mollywod. The film was also celebrated hugely by the Malayalam Audiences after its release. The film is also gearing up for its sequel, L2: Empuraan scheduled for release on 27th March worldwide. The Advance bookings for the film depict its craze and hype among the Malayalam Audiences. This craze for Lucifer is not reflected for its Telugu remake, God Father starring Chiranjeevi.
God Father was made with few changes, but the result didn’t match the original film. The changes that they made seemed to have affected the remake in Telugu. The prime reasons are:
1. Jathin Ramdas’ character
In Luficer, Tovino Thomas played the Jathin Ramdas character. His character arc has worked out well with a good twist which elevates the character of Mohanlal. But, in Telugu version, it was completely killed with the team removing this character completely. They have gone ahead only with Chiranjeevi, Satya Dev and Nayanthara as the major faces.
2. Political Drama
Luficer as a film deals mainly with the Political Drama whereas in God Father, it was converted as a family drama.
3. Cast Selection
In Lucifer, Vivek Oberoi did an excellent performance and Satya Dev in God Father didn’t give that impact. The cameo appearance of Prithviraj Sukumaran also worked out very well with a well-designed role. But, in God Father, the team went ahead with Bollywood Actor Salman Khan and made him do overboard scenes. There was also a song featuring both the Actors.
4. Climax
Lucifer ended with a powerful climax and also a good lead for the sequel but God Father had a weakest climax which was ended abruptly.
Few changes worked in Telugu version. One of such scenes is the scene of Actor Brahmaji in the first half. But in the second half of the film, the changes impacted the film in a big way. So, the audience who wants to watch L2: Empuraan must watch Luficer as God Father has been changed with many modifications.
