While it was Rajamouli who through his grand vision and passion gave birth to the world of Baahubali, it was Shobu, who through his marketing acumen and innovative ideas took Baahubali to every corner.
Now, as per reports, Shobu Yarlagadda has been playing an active role in RRR’s Oscar campaign and supporting his dear friend Rajamouli. While RRR is winning awards on a global stage, many fans have expressed their feelings that even Baahubali should have been promoted more aggressively. RRR-like marketing campaign could have helped the Prabhas starrer reach wider.
Meanwhile, Shobu has revealed in an interview that they never even applied for Baahubali to be considered for the Oscars. While Baahubali was not chosen as the official entry from Indian back in 2017, Shobu Yarlagadda and co. still had a chance to take it ahead independently as it happened in RRR’s case.
Even Rajamouli expressed no interest back in 2017 when Baahubali 2 was not chosen as India’s official entry. “When I make a film, I never think about awards. It is not my aim. The aim is to first satisfy myself with the story and then next is to see that it reaches the maximum number of audience and makes money for everyone who has put their life in it, the ace director said back in 2017.
