Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger opened last week to mainly negative reviews and poor word of mouth. The film has been registering below par occupancies in most areas much to the disappointment of Vijay and Puri Jagannadh.
During 1st weekend the film collected only 13.5Cr share in Telugu states. The sports action drama has crashed after opening day and this share can be considered the closing share. In states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala the combined share is shockingly low at around 2Cr.
Overall across South India, Liger has collected around 15.5 Cr . From the Hindi version the movie has collected around 13.5Cr nett with a share of around 6.5 Cr which takes total India share to 22Cr and overseas share of around 25Cr. The theatrical rights of Liger are valued at close to 90Cr and the movie is on its way to become the biggest disaster of Puri and Vijay Deverakonda’s career.
The sports action drama also stars Ananya Pandey and Ramya Krishnan in key roles. Karan Johar and Puri are jointly producing the film. This much anticipated pan-India project was released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi as well as in Malayalam.
