Vijay, who launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and has been facing political heat ever since, blamed the Tamil Nadu government for the delay of his film Jana Nayagan’s release during a recent TVK meeting.
Vijay’s Strong Statement at TVK Meeting
During his latest speech, Vijay said, “They have banned #Jananayagan, but I didn’t get disturbed for that. Next, they passed SOP, but it also didn’t work out. And lastly, they came up with, after waiting so many years, during the election period, they spread allegations against me (Personal life issue), but it also didn’t work. Endha komban alayum onnum panna mudiyathu.”
The actor-politician’s remarks came as he addressed supporters amid mounting pressure ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Political Targeting Behind the Delay
The delay of the 2026 Tamil film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, is said to have been driven by political targeting surrounding his entry into Tamil Nadu politics ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Fans believe that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was intimidated by the ruling DMK party in Tamil Nadu, with some alleging BJP involvement as well.
Vijay has faced multiple setbacks in recent months, including the Jana Nayagan release delay, personal allegations, and political hurdles. The film was originally scheduled for January 2026 but faced several challenges during production and certification.
Mixed Reactions to Vijay’s Statement
As usual, fans rallied behind Vijay’s statement, supporting his stand against what they view as political interference. However, some netizens criticized him for focusing on personal issues rather than addressing public concerns.
Several critics argued that as a political leader, Vijay should prioritize speaking about problems faced by the common people of Tamil Nadu rather than his film’s delay. The TVK founder’s remarks have sparked debate across social media platforms about the intersection of his cinema and political careers.
