Tollywood ticket rates issue is heating up with each day. Just a day after the High Court struck down the G.O 35, the government has appealed for an immediate hearing on the issue to discuss the matter further.
The government’s counsel has argued that this decision from the high court might lead to exploitation from filmmakers. The government’s argument is that the decision to regulate the prices of tickets was taken in the best interest of the people. Revoking this order will only lead to higher ticket prices making movie experience unaffordable for many.
The High Court has taken immediate cognizance of the issue. The court has further stated that a hearing on this issue will be held immediately tomorrow.
In the month of April, the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders which put a slab on the ticket rates as per the theatre’s locations. Tollywood producers have expressed serious concerns over this G.O.
Tollywood is going to witness a number of big-ticket films in the coming days. The producers and distributors are counting on them to pull them out of the lean patch brought in by lockdown. However, If this situation prevails biggies will have to struggle really hard to recover their investment.
