Tollywood has shown full dominance in recent years at the box office, and it even challenged Bollywood with a few films. But this year, the Telugu Film industry sees a collapse, and overall, 2025 ends as a less memorable year for it.
Bollywood scored 1000 Cr+ Grosser with Dhurandhar this year, which emerged as the biggest grosser of Indian cinema. Kollywood also scored a 500 Cr Grosser with Coolie, while Sandalwood scored an 800 Cr+ Grosser with Kantara Chapter 1. Mollywood, the Malayalam film industry, saw several blockbusters this year and scored their 1st 300 Cr with Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.
Tollywood Fails to Leave Its Mark in 2025
Coming to Tollywood, it did not even score 300 Cr this year, and Pawan Kalyan’s OG with 294 Cr gross stands as the highest grosser. No releases of big stars like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, and OG being limited only to Telugu audiences affected the box office impact of the Telugu Film industry in 2025.
NTR did a Bollywood film this year, and the highly anticipated Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, also failed miserably at the box office. All these combinedly affected Tollywood’s position this year.
