Tollywood is breathing a sigh of relief now with AP High Court striking down the AP Government’s GO No. 35. The GO was aimed at placing a slab on the ticket prices of movies. In wake of this new development, a delegation of Tollywood producers will meet YS Jaganmohan Reddy at AP Secretariat tomorrow.
The delegation will comprise of senior Tollywood producers Suresh Babu, Allu Arvind, Dil Raju among others. Further details on the agenda of this meeting are awaited. Ever since the G.O was released in April this year, Tollywood has been struggling to convince the government.
A number of meetings were held in this regard between Tollywood bigwigs and government representatives.
As per the new GO issued on 8th April, theatres across AP were given directives on the ticket prices. As per the directives, theatres situated in Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Nagar Panchayat, and Gram Panchayat were divided. Each regions were given a slab for ticket prices as per the theatre class.
This year, Tollywood will witness a number of big-ticket films, and producers and distributors were counting on them to pull them out of the lean patch brought in by lockdown last year. The orders to revoke this order have come in as a huge boost to the producers as well as exhibitors and distributors
