Producer Pokuri Rama Rao passed away at a city hospital on Friday evening at the age of 65. A few days ago he was admitted in the hospital as he was tested positive for COVID-19. He had undergone a cardiac surgery ten months ago. So, his health weakened and stopped responding to the doctor’s treatment and finally lead to his death. His last rites were performed on Saturday at Erragadda Smashana Vatika.
Pokuri Rama Rao and his brother Pokuri Babu Rao had bankrolled several films under the banner Eetharam Films, which was founded by actor Gopichand’s father, director Tottempudi Krishna. They won a Swarna Nandi award in 1990 for Erra Mandaram, as well as Rajata Nandi awards for Neti Bharatam and Vandematharam in 1983 and 1985 respectively.
