It is a well-known fact Bholaa Shankar, the upcoming film by Megastar Chiranjeevi, is a remake of Ajith’s Vedhalam. This film, which features Keerthy Suresh and Tamannaah, has been directed by Meher Ramesh who has been out of action for 10 years now.
Chiru explained why he did the Vedhalam remake, as there is a lot of talk about him doing continuous remakes. Anil Sunkara, the producer of Bhola Shankar, approached Chiru for the Vedhalam remake during the shoot of the Godfather (remake of the Malayalam film Lucifer). Chiranjeevi was reluctant to do another remake, but the producer persuaded him.
He mentioned a dialogue from ‘Khaidi No 150’ and stated that he acted in ‘Bhola Shankar’ because he liked it and in the expected that the audience will also enjoy it. Chiranjeevi said he was confused about the fact that many people are asking him why he has been doing remakes. “If there is a solid content and producers and actors take the opportunity to present it to the Telugu people, what is so wrong with that?” He said.
We know that the OTT platform has made it easier for people to watch films of different genres and languages. This is why people are not liking a big star like Chiranjeevi doing a remake when the OTT world has been extended across languages. Despite this, the film, Vedalam not being accessible on any OTT platform might have given the confidence to the makers of Bhola Shankar.
Chiranjeevi stated that unlike Lucifer, Vedhalam is not fully exposed because it is not available on any OTT platform. As a result, the producer informed Chiranjeevi that the movie would be more like a Telugu film. He also stated that Meher Ramesh developed a stylized version of Vedhalam.. Finally, Chiranjeevi added that Meher has integrated all the elements that the public expects from his movie.
