The reason Tollywood distributors are boycotting booking portals

Tough Times Ahead For Theatres In Telugu States

Tollywood distributors have decided to boycott online booking portals such as Book My Show and others. This is a surprising move considering the vast majority of audiences in cities depend on these portals to book tickets. This means the advance booking will be done the old-fashioned way directly from the booking counters.

The reason Tollywood distributors are boycotting these portals is because of heavy convenience charges levied for every ticket. This charge is around 10% and varies from one portal to another. Now the distributors and exhibitors are demanding a share from these convenience charges taken from the ticket buyer. The booking portals are strongly opposed to this idea and do not want to share the charges.

The online portals are saying that if they give in to this demand from Telangana exhibitors then every state exhibitor will also demand the same. This would mean a huge loss to Book My Show, PayTM, and others. For Bheemla Nayak, the distributors have started this trend and it needs to be seen how long this goes on. The online booking for this Pawan Kalyan starrer opened just yesterday
