The Raja Saab: Started Small, Ended Up Huge

The Raja Saabfirst planned as a simple horror comedy, and gradually evolved into a horror fantasy.

The Raja Saab is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release next week, and the excitement among the fans is on the next level. The film, which was started as a small-budget film, ended up as a huge-budget film.

In a recent interview, director Maruthi said that Prabhas liked Prema Katha Chitram and initially wanted to make a film on similar lines. The idea began as a low-budget project featuring a ghost house, one man, and three women. But as the project progressed, many things changed creatively.

What was first planned as a simple horror comedy gradually evolved into a horror fantasy, enriched with strong emotions (grandmother character) and a much larger canvas. This creative transformation reflects how the film grew far beyond its original plan, according to director Maruthi.

The movie is releasing on 9th January, 2026 with premieres on the 8th Night. The recently released trailer of The Raja Saab received a good response as it shows the span of the film, and fans’ excitement is high now.
