Director Sudipto Sen’s directorial, The Kerala Story, hit the screens on Friday amid massive controversy. On its release, the film surprisingly received poor reviews from the Bollywood critics, but the film seems to have impressed the audience, as it is proved by the good start it got at the box office. Now the movie is showing phenomenal and unreal consistency at trending in a sensational way at the Box Office.
The film opened with 8 Crores net on the first day that too with a very limited shows is a sensational to say the least. The trade circles had expected the film to get a big jump on the weekend as many shows were being added, and everyone were waiting to see whether this movie also be able to create wonders at the box office like The Kashmir Files Movie.
The Kerala Story exceeded the expectations of all by showing sensation growth in the numbers. On Saturday the film collected 11 Crores net, 16 Crores on Sunday, 10 Crores on Monday and 11 Crores on Tuesday. Monday’s numbers were more than Friday and Tuesday’s Numbers are more than Monday which is an unreal trending that too when the film was boycotted in some regions. The Bollywood Trade Circles are expecting the film to do more than 200 Crores nett in its full run.
Starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani, The Kerala Story was earlier officially described as the story of more than 32,000 Kerala women who have been allegedly been radicalized by Islamic fundamentalists. However, the number was changed to three from 32,000 after protests spread online stating that misinformation was being spread by the makers.
The Kerala Story movie revolves around Shalini Unnikrishnan (Adah Sharma), Nimah (Yogita Bihani), and Siddhi Idnani (Geetanjali), who share their room with Asifa (Sonia Balani) in a nursing college in Kasargod, Kerala. Asifa, who is an aide to ISIS, how indoctrinates and brainwashes the three girls and converts them to Islam and what happens to them is the main crux of the movie.
