With a continuous good run in Tamil Nadu, Vijay’s GOAT is registering one milestone after another at the Box office. The action thriller has now joined the Rs 450 Cr club at the Box office. The Tamil Nadu gross itself is more than 210 Cr while the Overseas gross is in the range of 155 Cr.
These two are the best-performing territories for the film which now needs to collect another 15 Cr gross in Tamil Nadu to emerge as the all-time no1. It all depends on this weekend. If GOAT manages another week’s run, then it will end up a no.1 as it will be having a Gandhi Jayanti holiday advantage next week.
This week, GOAT will compete with Karthi’s Meiyazhagan (Sathyam Sundaram) and NTR Devara. Karthi’s film has opened with positive word of mouth but bookings are not quite strong due to the film’s genre. We need to see how it reaches the audience. For Devara word of mouth is crucial to bring Tamil audiences to theatres.
GOAT is expected to close at around 470 Cr gross worldwide, which is an excellent number. Unfortunately, Telugu states and Kerala ended up with disastrous numbers or else it could have gone for 500 Cr mark.
