Janhvi Kapoor is landing big projects in Telugu cinema, but she’s yet to get a role that truly showcases her acting talent. Her debut in Telugu with the high-profile film Devara was a major opportunity, but her character was poorly written and limited to songs and glamour.
Her next Telugu film, Peddi, is also a big-budget project. However, based on the recently released first look, it seems Janhvi might once again be playing a glamorous role with little depth. Audiences have pointed out that her look in Peddi is very similar to Devara’s, with no noticeable change in styling or character presentation.
Today, the first single from Peddi titled Chikiri Chikiri was released. Ram Charan’s dance moves, style, and visuals received a positive response. But Janhvi Kapoor was again portrayed as a glam doll throughout the song, raising concerns about her limited scope in the film.
Then Devara and Now Peddi: Jahnvi Kapoor is getting utilized only for her glamour
It appears that directors are restricting her to glamorous roles, without giving her a chance to display her full range of skills. This trend could be a warning sign for Janhvi’s growth in Telugu cinema. All eyes are now on Buchi Babu, the director of Peddi, to see if he will break this pattern.
In his debut film Uppena, Buchi Babu wrote a strong and layered role for the female lead, Krithi Shetty, which was widely appreciated. Fans hoped he would do the same for Janhvi in Peddi. But based on the first single, her character seems to be focused only on glamour, which is disappointing.
