Telugu Audiences Reject Marco on OTT

Marco- Mollywood’s most violent action film releases on Christmas and it emerges as a huge blockbuster. The film performed decently in Telugu and managed to pull the audience well enough. Marco was a big success in Hindi and did well with double-digit collections.

The makers were confident that after its OTT release, Marco would gain wider reach and appreciation. It made its OTT premiere on Sony Liv on 14th February in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam with English subtitles.

Unfortunately, the film couldn’t create such a huge impact on the Telugu audience after its OTT release. The response has been quite cold and quite opposite to what the makers expected. This could have a significant impact on Marco 2 which is officially announced.

The Hindi version is streaming on Prime Video from today and looking at the theatrical response, there is a high possibility that it will be well received on OTT as well. If the Hindi version manages to get a good response from OTT then it a great news as Hindi is the biggest market after Malayalam for Marco 2. The success of the prequel and positive reception in Hindi would lead to Marco 2 being shot on a grander scale.
