Srikanth Odela is looking to make a strong comeback with his next film after The Paradise received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Despite the divided response, the Nani-starrer emerged as a commercial success, reportedly grossing over Rs 150 crore worldwide in its first week. The director, who made an impressive debut with Dasara, is now said to be exploring a different subject as he looks to deliver another memorable film and strengthen his position in Tollywood.
According to an exclusive report by Gulte, Odela is working on an intense love story set against the backdrop of the Telangana agitation. The film is reportedly set around the events of 2014 and is expected to blend romance with the region’s political and social history. If the project materialises, it would mark a notable shift for the filmmaker, who is known for gritty characters, raw emotions and action-driven storytelling. However, details regarding the lead actors, production banner and shooting schedule remain unknown.
Meanwhile, Odela’s much-discussed film with Megastar Chiranjeevi, presented by Nani, is unlikely to begin anytime soon. Nani recently confirmed that the project has been delayed, with no immediate production timeline. This has fuelled speculation that Odela could focus on developing his new story before returning to the Chiranjeevi project. However, neither the Telangana-based love story nor any change in the director’s plans has been officially confirmed.
