Son of India

Movie: Son of India
Rating: 1.5/5
Cast: Mohan Babu, Pragya Jaiswal, Srikanth, Naresh
Director: Diamond Ratna Babu
Produced By: Vishnu Manchu
Release Date: February 18th, 2022

Veteran actor Mohan Babu’s home production Son of India came in front of the audience this week after multiple delays. The film has faced a lot of negativity and trolls even before its release. The Manchu family on the other hand has pinned a lot of hopes on this project. Let’s find out of the film could redeem itself

Story: Kadiyam Babji (Mohan Babu) is a man of strict principles and decides to take on the corrupt system by kidnapping government officials. NIA officer Ira has been assigned to stop these crimes and arrest the perpetrators. Why is Kadiyam Babji involved in these serial kidnappings? What is his backstory? What is his final goal is what the story is about

Performances: The film is all about Mohan Babu. He is omnipresent across all the plots and sub-plots of the movie. The other characters are mere fillers used to elevate the senior actor who goes on tireless sermons and monologues about the country and its current situation. There is absolutely nothing that can be even said about senior actors Srikanth and Naresh who have no scope in the Mohan Babu Universe. Diamond Ratna Babu’s writing and direction are pretty lackluster and despite a very small runtime, the film manages to lose viewers’ interest quite fast. The CGI is sloppy and the dialogues are outdated. This vigilante drama fails to grasp viewers’ fancy due to its jarred screenplay and cliched scenes.

Analysis: Son of India is an extended showreel of Mohan Babu’s attempt at showcasing his acting skills. Even Megastar Chiranjeevi’s voice-over and Maestro Ilaiyaraja’s music are not adept to handle the snoozefest that Son of India is. The film is definitely not the theatre experience one should seek.

Plus Points:

  • Runtime
  • Certain issues showcased in the movie

Minus Points:

  • Sloppy writing
  • Outdated concept
  • Technical Values

Verdict: Son of India is a major misfire and an actor of Mohan Babu’s stature definitely needs to focus on more author-backed roles that can actually bring out the actor in him. Overall its quite a forgettable experience
