“Non-Violence” is an upcoming Tamil film directed by Ananda Krishnan, and the team recently shot a lively song featuring Shriya Saran, who recently starred in Teja Sajja’s “Mirai” and also appeared in a song in Suriya’s “Retro.” She participated in the shoot for this special song.
In addition to Shriya Saran, the film’s lead actor, Shirish (known for Metro), and Adithya Kathir also participated in the dance sequence. The trio dedicated their time to performing a lively track composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and choreographed by Hari Kiran. Despite the demanding schedule of the shoot, they found time to share their perspectives on the film and the song.
Shriya shared that Non-Violence addresses an important social issue and praised the way it’s been filmed. She recalled working with Ananda Krishnan during his time as an assistant director on Kanthaswamy, saying, “It’s a lovely feeling to be associated with him again.”
Director Ananda Krishnan, known for Metro and Kodiyil Oruvan, explained that the song is set in 1990s Madurai and adds a meaningful layer to the film. “Since the lyrics carry a strong message, we wanted someone like Shriya Saran, who is well-known and respected, to help the words reach the audience,” he said.
He also revealed that Shirish’s role in Non Violence is quite different from his previous work, and praised his performance, saying he handled the challenging character convincingly.
Shirish expressed his excitement about reuniting with his Metro team. “Non-Violence is a full-on commercial action film set in a prison. Today, we’re shooting a celebration song, which is a fast-paced number on a grand set,” he said. On working with Shriya, he added, “I’ve admired her work for years, and I’m happy to share the screen and dance with her.”
