It is very well known to everyone that Samantha’s Shaakuntalam which was released in April had failed to bring the audience to the theaters, and became a massive failure at the box office. Made on a massive budget, Shaakuntalam was based on the internationally acclaimed Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play ‘Abhijnana Shaakuntalam’ and was directed by Guna Sekhar. Presented by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations together with Gunaa Team works and produced by Neelima Guna. However, it looks like Shaakuntalam’s failure doesn’t have an effect on the brand value of Samantha in the industry.
Recently, inside reports strongly suggested that Samantha doing a film with Nandini Reddy is almost confirmed. They are joining hands again after a blockbuster like Oh Baby which was a massive success and Samantha is said to be getting her career highest remuneration for this new film. This means Shaakuntalam’s result does not affect her remuneration and brand value in the industry.
Oh Baby (2005) starred Samantha in the lead role, with Naga Shourya, Lakshmi, Rao Ramesh, Rajendra Prasad, Teja Sajja in the other roles. The film was directed by Nandini Reddy Produced by Suresh Babu, Sunitha Tati, TG Vishwa Prasad, Hyunwoo Thomas Kim. Mickey J Meyer composed the music for the film.
The movie tells us the story of Baby (Lakshmi), who is a hyper old lady that runs a canteen on her own. Her dominating nature is not liked by her daughter-in-law. Because of a small family conflict, Baby is kicked out of the house. But strange things happen in her life and baby gets a wish to become a young lady and lead her life once again. The rest of the story is as to how the new and young Baby (Samantha) makes use of the opportunity she got and how she enjoys her life peacefully.
