The trend of re-releasing is peaking in the next few months. Started with Puri Jagannadh’s cult blockbuster Pokiri (2006), over a dozen Telugu classics, in a remastered 4K format, have hit the big screens once again.
Pokiri, Jalsa , Okkadu, Kushi, Businessman, Simhadri, Orange, Jalsa, and Surya S/O Krishnan, Ee Nagaraniki Emindi and few others have emerged as box-office hits. With birthdays of multiple heroes lined up, Telugu states will now witness a total of seven re-releases in the next sixty days.
The list includes S. S. Rajamouli’s Vikramarkudu (27th July), Nani-Samantha’s Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu (2nd Aug), Mahesh Babu’s Okkadu (8th Aug), Murari (9th Aug), Chirajeevi’s ‘Industry Hit’ Indra (22nd Aug), RGV-Nagarjuna’s cult classic Shiva (29th Aug), and of course Pawan Kalyan’s action comedy Gabbar Singh (2nd Sep).
