Samantha’s Shaakuntalam, which was made as a mythological epic featuring her in the titular role, was released in worldwide theaters last month. Samantha and the whole unit of the film were very confident about the success of the film before the release, and they had done aggressive promotions as well. However, Shaakuntalam failed to impress the audience, and it ended up as a colossal disaster at the Box Office. Now the film is streaming on OTT through Amazon Prime Video.
It is very well known that Shaakuntalam movie’s streaming rights in all languages have been bought by the OTT giant Amazon Prime and the movie is now available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages for the users of the platform. We have to wait and see how it will be the response to the movie on OTT. The movie had all the required elements to be an engaging romantic drama with a mythological backdrop, but the ineffective narration and zero emotions made the film a bland affair and the audience could not connect to the characters or the film.
Made on a massive budget, Shaakuntalam is based on the internationally acclaimed Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play ‘Abhijnana Shaakuntalam’ and was directed by Guna Sekhar. presented by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations together with Gunaa Team works and produced by Neelima Guna.
Dev Mohan played King Dushyant’s role in this flick, while Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha appeared as Prince Bharata. Aditi Balan, Prakash Raj, Gauthami, Madhu Bala, Sachin Khedekar, Mohan Babu, Kabir Bedi, Siva Balaji, Satya and Ananya Nagalla appeared in crucial roles. Mani Sharma composed the tunes for this film.
