Many big-budget films are releasing now as most of the stars are going for pan India. But the big-budget films are not working for distributors, especially for the Andhra distributors. The buyers are losing big amounts of late due to inflated budgets of the films and higher than deserved asking rates by the makers. With back-to-back failures for several distributors and exhibitors on multiple pan-India films, everyone is now looking up to Salaar for some redemption.
Excluding the Sankranthi season, the numbers have not been positive for Andhra Pradesh buyers. Even SS Rajamouli’s RRR film also saw some lower-than-expected numbers for AP distributors. Not even a single film in recent times has given them good profits and most of them ended up with big losses. Even Salaar’s business was impacted due to this factor. While makers expected 130Cr+ business from Andhra Pradesh, it sold at less than 100Cr which is also a big number in itself.
If Salaar fails to deliver big numbers then definitely it will impact the business of upcoming Tollywood biggies. Even finding distributors for lower prices would become difficult if Salaar’s performance is on the level of some recent pan-India movies. On the other hand, if Salaar works then definitely it will be a big boost to other films as the distributor’s belief in big-budget films will be reinstated.
