Prashanth Neel’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is all set for a grand re-release on March 21, and the response has been phenomenal. Despite being a much-anticipated project featuring Prabhas, the film faced some box office setbacks, earning around ₹600 crore worldwide—far from the ₹1000 crore mark many expected. Its Hindi collections were also affected due to competition with Dunki. Even director Prashanth Neel admitted that the film’s theatrical performance did not fully meet his expectations.
However, the film found a much wider audience after its OTT release, leading to skyrocketing anticipation for Salaar 2. The sequel was initially planned to start immediately, but due to Neel’s prior commitments, including his film with Jr. NTR, the project was delayed.
Generally, a film re-releasing within a year without a special occasion doesn’t create much buzz. But Salaar has defied expectations, with its advance bookings off to a record-breaking start.
Limited show bookings opened yesterday, and over 25,000 tickets were sold on BookMyShow within a day. The demand for more screenings is rising, and if this momentum continues, Salaar could break all re-release records.
