Salaar: Disaster on Television

Salaar Goes Global: A Paid Promotional Campaign?

Tollywood Actor Prabhas’ previous starrer, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire became a sensation after its release. The film grossed more than 600 crores worldwide becoming a big hit for Prabhas after the Baahubali franchise. But it seems Salaar has become a disaster on Television.

Salaar premiered on Star Maa where it secured only 6.5 TRP. This is literally a shocking and disastrous number considering the popularity of Salaar. Mahesh Babu’s recent outing, Guntur Kaaram posted a better rating than this film which also shocked everyone. Nagarjuna’s recent film, Naa Saami Rangaa also performed very well on TV. securing an 8 TRP. No one understands why Salaar registered this low TRP.

However, one needs to understand that it is the period of IPL. So many may stick to TV watching Cricket matches and not show interest in certain films that have already been watched in the theatres. Some films that don’t register good run in the theatres eventually have viewership. Salaar may fall in the former category as it was already seen by all and with the affect of IPL the TRP has further declined. And Salaar is also not a film to be watched on TV as its impact can be only experienced well in the theatres.
