Kantara, one of the biggest blockbuster films directed by Rishab Shetty, first was released in Kannada and after that, it was released in Telugu, Hindi and other languages. The film, which is set against the backdrop of an old art form called Bhoota Kola, has collected more than Rs 400 crore gross. The film was made with just 16 crores and became an industry hit in Karnataka and a blockbuster in other languages. Now the film is going to have a second part.
Actor and Director Rishab Shetty is in the process of setting up the pre-production works of prequel to Kantara. It is also said that the film will be made on a massive budget. The audience is eagerly waiting for Kantara 2, which is a prequel to the film Kantara, as it will follow the events before the first part.
There is a discussion going on about the current Kantara Prequel’s budget. Reportedly, the makers are planning to make the film with a massive a budget of Rs 125 crore. Moreover, some talented actors are being roped in for the film. This time, Kantara will be released in all the languages simultaneously as a pan-Indian film.
The film is said to be based on the concept of how the culture of Bhoota Kola was started. The prequel of Kantara 2 is set in the 4th century, specifically between 301-400 AD. So it could be seen as the origin of the Panjurli Daiva according to the makers. The VFX work in the film will also be huge, as per the reports. Kantara was shot in Rishab Shetty’s hometown, Kundapur. However, now it appears that the second part will be shot in Mangalore.
