The Girlfriend, starring Rashmika Mandanna and directed by Rahul Ravindran, is already making waves even before its theatrical release. Thanks to Rashmika’s strong pan-India stardom, the film has secured a solid ₹21 crore in non-theatrical business.
According to inside reports, the OTT streaming rights of The Girlfriend have been sold to Netflix for ₹14 crore, while the Hindi dubbing and satellite rights have fetched another ₹7 crore.
This is a remarkable achievement, especially at a time when non-theatrical deals are becoming harder to close, even for big-budget films, and Rashmika’s Pan-India stardom made it possible.
Produced by Geetha Arts and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment, the film will hit theaters on 7th November. The trailer hints at a gripping and emotional journey, showing glimpses of a toxic relationship between the lead pair. The film promises a fresh take on modern love and emotional vulnerability.
