Both Ranabaali and Jailer 2 are trending low in the USA, but the latest premiere advance sales show a clear shift in the Telugu race. Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali is growing much faster than the Telugu version of Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, and at the current trend, Ranabaali is set to register a better premiere opening in Telugu.
USA Premieres Advance Sales (Telugu Version)
As of Tuesday morning, October 13:
Jailer 2 (Telugu): $86K with 2 days to go for premieres
Ranabaali: $76K with 3 days to go for premieres
Jailer 2 premieres in the USA on October 14, while Ranabaali premieres on October 15.
Ranabaali Is Growing Faster
The gap is closing quickly. In the last 24 hours, Ranabaali jumped from $52K to $76K, a growth of around 45 percent. In the same period, Jailer 2’s Telugu version moved from $71K to $86K, a growth of around 21 percent.
The gap between the two has shrunk from about $19K to just $10K in one day. At this pace, Ranabaali will cross Jailer 2’s Telugu number very soon, and it still has one extra day of bookings left.
Ranabaali Already Ahead in Tickets
Look beyond the revenue, and Ranabaali is already in front. Ranabaali has sold 4,350 tickets across 308 shows in 180 theatres, while Jailer 2’s Telugu version has sold 3,999 tickets across 287 shows in 195 theatres.
Ranabaali’s occupancy also stands higher at 15.1 percent, compared to 12.99 percent for Jailer 2 Telugu. Jailer 2 is ahead in revenue only because of higher average ticket prices.
AMC Gives Ranabaali a Push
One big reason for Ranabaali’s jump is AMC. Yesterday, AMC was not contributing to Ranabaali’s numbers at all. Today, it has added $14.9K with 818 tickets sold, and AMC shows are running at 33.57 percent occupancy, the strongest among all chains for the film. Cinemark leads with $30.8K, followed by Regal at $24.2K.
Jailer 2 Overall: Tamil Carries the Load
Including all languages, Jailer 2’s USA premiere pre-sales now stand at $824.6K, with 30,305 tickets sold across 1,128 shows in 418 theatres. The Tamil version accounts for $738.6K of that, with 27.61 percent occupancy. Overall, the film added around $74K in the last 24 hours, a growth of about 10 percent.
Cinemark leads Jailer 2’s chain-wise numbers with $435.4K, followed by Regal at $208.7K and AMC at $80.9K.
Still Low for Both
Even with the improved trend, these numbers are low for both films. Ranabaali is still far behind Vijay Deverakonda’s last film Kingdom, which registered $930K from its USA premieres. Jailer 2, a sequel to a blockbuster, is also not showing the kind of demand a Rajinikanth film usually gets.
The final days of bookings will decide where both films land. But in the Telugu race, the momentum has clearly moved in Ranabaali’s favour.
