Ramayana North America: Bollywood’s Biggest Premiere Record Is About to Fall

Ramayana: Part 1 is set to bet Dhurandhar 2 North America premiere number.

Ramayana is set to make history in North America. With two days still to go before its premieres, the film is on track to break the record for the biggest premiere opening ever for a Bollywood film in the region.

The Record to Beat

That record currently belongs to Dhurandhar 2, which opened with $2 million from its North America premieres. The film could have gone even higher, possibly up to $2.5 million, but several last-minute show cancellations kept the number at $2 million.

Ramayana Already at $1.5M

Ramayana is already sitting on $1.5 million in pre-sales for its North America premieres, with two more days of bookings left before shows begin.

At the current trend, the film is expected to open with at least $2.25 million from premieres, enough to become the new No.1 premiere for a Bollywood film in North America.

  • Premieres: $1.5M
  • Opening Day: $500K+

The Bigger Test: Premieres Plus Day 1

Breaking the premiere record looks like a sure thing. The bigger challenge is the full opening, premieres plus the first day.

Dhurandhar 2 collected $3.95 million in North America including premieres ($2 million from premieres and $1.95 million on Day 1). To beat that, Ramayana needs a big Day 1 as well.

The film already has over $500K in pre-sales for its opening day, which is a good trend. But how big Day 1 gets will depend on the word of mouth from the premieres.

Word of Mouth Will Decide

That’s what makes the premieres so important. A strong response from the first shows could push Day 1 sales up quickly and help Ramayana beat Dhurandhar 2’s overall opening. A mixed response could slow it down.

  • Premieres to beat: $2M
  • Premieres + Day 1 to beat: $3.95M

60 Cr Worldwide and Climbing

The momentum isn’t limited to North America. Ramayana’s worldwide pre-sales for its opening are now running at around ₹60 Cr, and with just two days left before shows begin, bookings are picking up fast.

The film releases worldwide on November 5, with premieres in North America on November 4.
