Kanguva is undoubtedly the most crucial film in Suriya’s career. Made on a lavish budget, it is directed by Siva, marking the first collaboration with the actor. With music composed by ‘Rock Star’ Devi Sri Prasad, it has been scheduled to hit the big screens on 10 October 2024.
On the other hand, ‘Super Star’ Rajinikanth is gearing up for an investigative thriller called ‘Vettaiyan’. Written and directed by T. J. Gnanawel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame, it is bankrolled by Lyca Productions. In an unexpected turn of events, this biggie too is heading towards an October 10 release, thus creating an unavoidable clash with Kanguva.
In terms of budget, scale, and expectations, Kanguva beats Vettaiyan by a big margin. But Rajinikanth cannot be written off just like that. His last venture, Jailer (2023), was a huge blockbuster in Tamil and Telugu. On the other hand, Suriya’s last few films didn’t see a theatrical release due to the pandemic. All in all, two of the most loved Tamil actors among Telugu audiences are all set to lock horns this October. It’d be interesting to see who among these two will have the last laugh.
