Raayan starring Dhanush performed stunningly at the box office. The film saw a good first weekend by grossing nearly 70 crores worldwide. The film posted excellent occupancies in both second and third weekends. It is all set to touch the 150 crores gross mark worldwide which is phenomenal. Raayan has grossed nearly 75 crores gross in Tamil Nadu, 25 crores from Telugu States and Rest of India. Raayan grossing 150 crores is now an all time record for Dhanush.
In the overseas market, Raayan has collected $5Million. This is also the first Tier 2 film from Kollywood to collect 150 crores gross worldwide. No one expected Raayan to perform this big. The trailer and songs looked just okayish. But everything changed after the film’s release. Action scenes and Music composed by A.R. Rahman have helped the film greatly. The film even trended many days solely for these reasons.
Raayan will also be a special film for Dhanush as he also acted as the director for the film. He looks to cash in on the success of Raayan for his upcoming film, Kubera co-starring Nagarjuna. Kubera is directed by Sekhar Kammula and is currently under shoot. Dhanush is also working on the Ilaiyaraaja Biopic film.
