Allu Arjun’s fan following in Kerala needs no introduction. So it was natural to expect the Pushpa 2 would do well over there. There were a lot of expectations on Kerala business for Pushpa 2. Adding to that, the makers hoped the sequel craze would work for them as it did in the case of Baahubali 2 and KGF2. Both these films collected more than 65 Cr gross in Kerala and Pushpa 2 was expected to do even more.
Cut to the release day, everything backfired for the makers. On opening day itself Pushpa 2 was disappointed. The distributor had declared that they were aiming to beat Vijay’s Leo opening. Surprisingly, this Sukumar film ended up with 50% opening of Leo.
On Day 2, Pushpa 2 witnessed a massive 60% drop and the 2 days gross is at 9 Cr. Looking at the current trend, doing even 30 Cr in a full run looks impossible as advances for the weekend are also low. For breakeven, the film has to collect more than 60 Cr gross and even half of that looks extremely tough.
