Naga Chaitanya’s Custody has opened with very ordinary numbers for noon shows in Telugu States, and what’s more surprising is the numbers have dropped further for the remaining shows. Even the bookings for night shows are also not up to the mark. In Tamil, Custody did not create any buzz before the release and that’s why openings are minimal. Below par talk and mixed reviews affected the film’s openings, and it has to a considerable growth on the weekend. Otherwise it will most likely end up as a big failure at the box office.
Custody, the film, marks the first-ever collaboration between Hero Naga Chaitanya and Director Venkat Prabhu. The film consists of a huge star cast such as Arvind Swami, Sarath Kumar, Krithi Shetty, Priyamani, Premji, Vennela Kishore, Sampath Raj and Ramki in crucial roles.
The film’s music and background score have been composed by Illayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. This is the first time that they both have worked on a film, while the cinematography was handled by SR Kathir. The theater owners of the Telugu States had piled up big hopes on Custody’s result, but it looks like the film has not lived up to the expectations going by the talk and numbers on the first day.
The movie tells us the story of Shiva (Naga Chaitanya) who is an honest police constable, and wants to do his duty sincerely. One night, Shiva plans to take his girlfriend Revathi (Krithi Shetty) from her marriage but on the way he finds himself between the fight of CBI Officer George (Sampath), and a criminal Raju (Aravind Swamy) and locks both of them in a cell without knowing their identities. Just when Shiva gets to know that George is indeed a CBI Officer, tension arises as an attack happens on the police station and Shiva in retaliation, attacks the goons and flees away with George and Raju. What happened after that? Does Shiva succeed in his mission of getting the criminals punished? How is IG Nataraj involved in this case? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
